A recent survey involved employees across the United States and whether or not they believe that vacation time is important. This revealed that just about 92% of employees say vacation time is important to them. However, most people think of vacations being spent in stereotypical locations.

Most people are completely unaware of the fact that a great vacation spot exists within a relatively unique location. North Carolina is home to some great dining, history, and attractions. Therefore, dining in North Caroline should be a premier spot for anyone that wants to have a wonderful vacation.

North Carolina Dining Has Plenty Of History

North Carolina is a great place for vacation planning because of all of the unique and original histories that exist within the state. For instance, the first English child born in the New World was Virginia Dare, born on August 18, 1587, at Fort Raleigh on Roanoke Island. Also, over 1,000 ships have sunk in the waters of the Outer Banks since records were first kept in 1526, giving rise to the nickname Graveyard of the Atlantic.

In 1794, Congress approved the construction of the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse after realizing the danger to Atlantic shipping due to all of the ships foundering off of the coast in this area. This Cape Hatteras Lighthouse has a great history and is a wonderful attraction as well. It is why people enjoy dining in North Caroline so much!

The over 600 shipwrecks off the coast of North Carolina include pirate ships, Civil War-era ships, WWII vessels including submarines, and modern seacraft. In late December 1862, the USS Monitor which is a 987-ton turret gunboat was caught in one of the winter storms at Cape Hatteras. It sunk off the coast on New Year’s Eve. This is the type of history that people really love to experience.

North Carolina Dining Has Many Attractions

Outer banks rentals, house rentals in North Carolina, and fine dining are such great attractions for North Carolina. The previously mentioned Graveyard of the Atlantic is a popular destination for scuba divers and shipwreck enthusiasts. North Carolina’s Outer Banks are the third-most popular wedding destination in the United States, after Las Vegas and Hawaii. Therefore, it is safe to say that any dining experience in this area is going to be nothing short of amazing.

Kitesurfing, paragliding and hang gliding are popular Outer Banks activities, for much the same reasons that the Wright Brothers chose the area for their flight experiments. Anyone that enjoys these types of outdoor activities will definitely enjoy spending time in North Carolina. This is why so many people look towards North Carolina as a great place for their dining experience.

North Carolina’s Outer Banks is a skinny strip of barrier islands that stretch for 130 miles along the Atlantic coast. The dining there is amazing and so is the exquisite scenery. Over 447,000 people visited the Wright Brothers National Monument in Kitty Hawk, NC, in 2011.

The Cape Hatteras Lighthouse is the tallest brick lighthouse in the United States, at 208 feet. Over 400 species of birds have been identified at the Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge on Hatteras Island. In 2011, approximately 102,870 people climbed the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse.

The first successful airplane flights were conducted in Kitty Hawk, NC, by the Wright Brothers, in 1903. Wilbur and Orville Wright chose Kitty Hawk as the spot to experiment with aircraft, beginning in 1900, because it was so sparsely populated, and boasted sand dunes from which they could practice gliding and controlling aircraft. Therefore, anyone that wants some great attractions needs to get themselves to North Carolina.

Final Words On North Carolina Dining

Anyone that wants to find themselves some great dining experiences along with history and tradition will love North Carolina. So if you are trying to plan out a great vacation experience with these types of qualities then you are certainly on the right track!
